Role

👩🏻‍💻 Digital Marketing Manager

Period

📅 Oct – Dec 2024

Location

🇸🇪 Sweden
🇩🇰 Denmark
🇫🇮 Finland
🇳🇴 Norway

Target Audience

👥 Adults 25+, culturally engaged and socially conscious viewers drawn to historical dramas and emotionally driven storytelling — including fans of Steve McQueen’s previous work such as 12 Years a Slave and Small Axe.

About the movie / Situation

BLITZ is a historical war drama centered on a mother and son separated during the London Blitz.

The film had limited theatrical screenings in select cities across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, not a wide national release.

The client required that the digital campaign be run exclusively on YouTube and Display platforms, using only pre-approved, uneditable content, and targeting only the cities with screenings.

These constraints limited creative flexibility, scale, and targeting — all while operating in high-cost Nordic digital markets.

Task

My objective was to generate awareness and drive qualified traffic (link clicks) to ticketing pages for the screening cities in each country.

Despite platform, location, and content restrictions, the campaign needed to perform well within small, high-cost advertising regions and demonstrate clear audience reach and interest.

ACTION

✅ Executed a two-phase digital campaign strategy across Google Ads (YouTube + Programmatic Display), tailored to the available screening cities in all four countries

✅ Created country-specific traffic funnels, directing audiences to city-level ticket pages while ensuring budget efficiency by excluding non-screening areas

✅ Closely monitored and optimized campaign delivery, balancing impressions, views, and clicks across high-cost Scandinavian markets to ensure cost-per-result efficiency

✅ Worked within the boundaries of the creative assets provided, strategically deploying available trailers and banners to maximize engagement across formats despite creative limitations

✅ Analyzed local performance variance, accounting for market-specific CPC/CPV benchmarks in order to allocate spend dynamically and extract maximum value

RESULT

📈 Campaign Performance Summary
👉🏻 Total Budget: $23K
👉🏻 Impressions: 58M+
👉🏻 Engagements: 900K
👉🏻 Link Clicks (traffic campaigns): 22K+
👉🏻 CPC from: $0.28
👉🏻 CPV from: $0.01
👉🏻 CTR up to: 44.45%

💰 Cost-efficiency in high-CPC markets:
👉🏻 CPV stayed far below Nordic YouTube benchmarks (typically €0.05–€0.08), with Finland and Norway hitting €0.01
👉🏻 CPCs in Denmark and Sweden were as low as €0.28, outperforming regional averages by a wide margin

📢 Despite limited targeting and inflexible creative, the campaign successfully directed 22,000+ qualified clicks to localized ticketing pages and performed with remarkable efficiency across all four countries — proving that even with strict constraints, smart media strategy and precision targeting can deliver impactful results in high-cost markets.
